A beamsplitter device for splitting an input beam of light having a plurality of components into a corresponding plurality of output light beams that each travel in a substantially parallel manner. In one embodiment, the beamsplitter device is configured as a polarizing beamsplitter device so as to split the input beam into separate polarization components by using a polarizing coating. Alternatively, in another embodiment, the beamsplitter device is configured as a wavelength filtering beamsplitter so as to split the input beam into separate wavelength components, by using a plurality of wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) coatings. The beamsplitter device comprises a planar transparent structural sheet or wall having substantially parallel first and second opposing surfaces. An input face portion receives the input beam and a plurality of output face portions transmit the output beams. A reflecting material internally reflects light within the sheet.
L'invention concerne un diviseur de faisceaux destiné à diviser un faisceau de lumière d'entrée présentant une pluralité de composantes, en une pluralité correspondante de faisceaux de lumière de sortie se propageant de manière essentiellement parallèle. Dans un mode de réalisation, le diviseur de faisceaux est configuré en tant que diviseur de faisceaux polarisant, de manière à diviser le faisceau d'entrée en composantes de polarisation séparées, au moyen d'un revêtement de polarisation. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, le diviseur de faisceau est configuré en tant que diviseur de faisceaux filtrant les longueurs d'ondes de manière à diviser le faisceau d'entrée en composantes de longueurs d'ondes différentes, au moyen d'une pluralité de revêtements de multiplexage par répartition en longueur d'onde. Le diviseur de faisceau comporte une feuille ou une paroi structurelle transparente plane présentant une première et une deuxième surfaces opposées essentiellement parallèles. Une zone d'entrée reçoit le faisceau d'entrée et une pluralité de zones de sortie transmet les faisceaux de sortie. Un matériau réfléchissant réfléchit la lumière à l'intérieur de la feuille.
