Polyether and polyester poloyols and polyurethane foams are stabilized by including therein stabilizers selected from (1) diphenylaminomethylbenzotriazole substituted by alkyl or phenylalkyl groups or (2) synergistic compositions consisting of (a) benzotriazole or alkylbenzotriazole and (b) secondary aromatic amine substituted by alkyl or phenylalkyl groups wherein the benzotriazole and amine is present in critical ratios. Furthermore, a method is disclosed for preparation of polyurethane foams from polyols and polyisocyanate that have reduced discoloration due to scorch by adding diphenylamino methylbenzotriazole or compositions of benzotriazole and secondary aromatic amine as scorch inhibitors to the polyol, foaming the polyol and curing.

On stabilise des mousses de polyol de polyéther et de polyol de polyester et de polyuréthane en leur ajoutant des stabilisants choisis parmi : 1) des diphénylaminométhylbenzotriazoles substitués par des groupements alkyles ou phénylalkyles; ou 2) des compositions synergiques renfermant a) du benzotriazole ou un alkylbenzotriazole et b) une amine aromatique secondaire substituée par des groupements alkyles ou phénylalkyles, dans lesquelles le benzotriazole et l'amine sont présents dans un rapport déterminé. De plus, on divulgue une méthode de préparation de mousses de polyuréthane à partir de polyols et de polyisocyanate ayant une décoloration par grillage réduite. Ces mousses de polyuréthane sont obtenues par : addition de diphénylaminométhylbenzotriazole ou de compositions de benzotriazole et d'amine aromatique secondaire comme inhibiteurs de grillage du polyol; moussage du polyol; et durcissement.
