Abstract of the Disclosure The invention provides compounds of the formula III", Image III" wherein n represents a whole number from 0 to 2, W' represents hydrogen, alkyl having 1 to 18 C atoms or aralkyl having 7 to 10 C atoms, and R3, R4 and R5 represent hydrogen and the H atoms on the C atoms 3a and (6+n) a have the cis or trans configuration relative to one another, wherein the case of the cis configuration, the group -CO2W' on C atom 2 is orientated exo to the bicyclic ring system, or R3 and R4 or R4 and R5 together each denote a chemical bond and R3 or R5 denotes hydrogen, and a process for the preparation thereof. Compounds of the formula III" are useful starting materials in the synthesis of bicyclic aminoacids having long lasting and powerful hypotensive activity.
