The invention relates to a polyethylene composition with a bimodal molecular weight distribution and articles made therefrom, such as high topload blow moldings and transmission and distribution pipes. The composition comprises a low-molecular-weight (LMW) ethylene homopolymer component and a homogeneous, high-molecular-weight (HMW) ethylene interpolymer component, wherein the LMW component is characterized as having a molecular weight distribution, MWD L, of less than about 8. The composition is characterized as having a bimodal molecular weight distribution, and a ductile-brittle transition temperature, Tdb, of less than -20 ~C. In some embodiments, the HMW component is characterized by a reverse comonomer distribution.
L'invention concerne une composition de polyéthylène à distribution bimodale des masses moléculaires, et des articles fabriqués à partir de cette composition, p. ex. moulages par soufflage présentant une résistance élevée à la compression et conduites de transmission et de distribution. La composition contient un composant homopolymère d'éthylène de faible masse moléculaire (LMW) et un composant interpolymère d'éthylène homogène de masse moléculaire élevée (HMW) ; le composant LMW se caractérise par sa distribution des masses moléculaires, <I>MWD</I>?L¿, inférieure à environ 8. La composition se caractérise par sa distribution bimodale des masses moléculaires, et par sa température de transition ductile-fragile, T¿db?, inférieure à -20 ·C. Dans certaines formes de réalisation, le composant HMW se caractérise par une distribution inversée des comonomères.
