The present invention provides isolated polypeptides useful in the treatment and prevention of malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum or P. vivax. In particular, the polypeptides are derived from the binding domains of the proteins in the DBL family as well as the sialic acid binding protein (SABP) on P. falciparum merozoites. The polypeptides may also be derived from the Duffy antigen binding protein (DABP) on P. vivax merozoites.

La présente invention concerne des polypeptides isolés convenant au traitement et à la prévention du paludisme imputable à Plasmodium falciparum ou à Plasmodium vivax. En l'occurrence, ces polypeptides sont dérivés des domaines de liaison des protéines appartenant à la famille DBL de même que la protéine de liaison de l'acide sialique ou "SABP" (pour "Sialic Acid Binding Protein") sur les mérozoïtes de Plasmodium falciparum. Ces polypeptides peuvent également être dérivés de la protéine de liaison de l'antigène de Duffy ou "DABP" (pour "Duffy Antigen Binding Protein") sur les mérozoïtes de Plasmodium vivax.
