A biopsy system comprising a housing, a biopsy instrument being operatively associated with the housing and including a first tubular member having a tissue basket formed near a distal end thereof, the tissue basket being configured for retrieval of tissue, the biopsy instrument further including a tubular knife member coaxially disposed relative to the first tubular member and being configured for cooperative movement with the first tubular member to sever a tissue sample from a patient; and an indexing assembly operatively engageable with the biopsy instrument for selective orientation of the tissue basket.
Un appareil destiné aux biopsies comprend un boîtier, un instrument fonctionnant en association avec le boîtier et constitué d'un premier élément tubulaire muni d'un panier d'extraction de tissu formé près de l'extrémité distale de celui-ci, le panier d'extraction de tissus étant conçu pour la collecte de tissu. L'instrument est aussi constitué d'une lame tubulaire placée de manière coaxiale par rapport au premier élément tubulaire et est conçu pour se mouvoir avec le premier élément tubulaire afin d'exciser un échantillon de tissu du patient, et d'un ensemble de positionnement qui s'articule avec l'instrument de biopsie pour orienter sélectivement le panier d'extraction de tissu.
