ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to a bleed-effect charge intended to reduce base drag for a projectile, the charge having a central flame channel and a priming device. In order to improve initiation of the bleed-effect charge, the edge area of the bleed-effect charge that surrounds the flame channel tapers downwardly towards the rear in a conical configuration. Alterna- tively, the edge area has stepped sections and ports arranged in the housing of the primer device are angled relative to the longitudinal axis of the bleed-effect charge.
