This invention provides holding and supporting appliances used in the fields of orthopedics, rehabilitation and sports and support members thereof that are light in weight, thin, rigid and durable and breathe well, and, furthermore, support members made of reinforced plastic triaxial woven fabrics impregnated with resin. The support members according to this invention comprises a mask-like piece formed of reinforced plastic triaxial woven fabrics. Preferably, the formed piece should have openings representing 5 to 33 percent of the overall area thereof, and a flexural rigidity of 10 to 1 × 10 4 kg~mm2 per unit width and a basis weight (weight per unit area) of 50 to 1000 g/m2. Holding and supporting appliances are formed by using the support members described above.
L'invention concerne un article léger, à parois minces, très rigide, durable et hautement perméable aux gaz utilisé principalement dans les domaines de l'orthopédie, de la rééducation fonctionnelle et du sport. L'invention porte aussi sur un élément de support dudit article, notamment un élément de support formé d'un plastique renforcé par fibres que l'on produit en imprégnant de résine un textile à tissage tridirectionnel, et que l'on peut appliquer de manière appropriée audit article. Ledit élément de support comporte un corps moulé plan en plastique renforcé textile à tissage triaxial. Le corps moulé présente de préférence des ouvertures dont la surface représente 5 à 33 % de la surface totale, une rigidité à la flexion par largeur unitaire dans au moins un sens de 10-1x104 kg.mm<2> et un poids unitaire de 50 à 1 000 g/m<2>. On fabrique ledit article en utilisant ledit élément de support.
