ABSTRACT A brake for a motor, particularly an alternating current motor with an electromagnet is proposed for improving the dynamic characteristics, without increasing the power loss, whereby the coil of electromagnet (2) is subdivided by an intermediate tap (6) into two partial coils (3, 4), one of which is arranged in a freewheeling circuit.
