The invention relates to a breathing apparatus for an aircraft crew member comprising at least one breathing mask (10) provided with a regulator (12) and an inflatable pneumatic harness (14) for rapid donning of said mask, said regulator being connected to a source of breathable gas (30) through a first feedline, said breathing apparatus further comprising a first buffer plenum (134) having an outlet connected to said pneumatic harness for inflating said harness with compressed gas, and compression means (50) for delivering said compressed gas to said first buffer plenum. The invention also relates to a method for filling the first buffer plenum.

L'invention concerne un appareil respiratoire destiné à un membre d'équipage d'un aéronef, cet appareil comprenant au moins un masque respiratoire (10) doté d'un régulateur (12) et d'une bride pneumatique gonflable (14) pour l'enfilage rapide du masque, le régulateur étant relié à une source de gaz respiratoire (30) par une première ligne d'alimentation. L'appareil respiratoire comporte en outre une première chambre d'air tampon (134) pourvue d'une sortie reliée à la bride pneumatique pour gonfler cette dernière au moyen d'un gaz comprimé, ainsi qu'un élément de compression (50) pour fournir le gaz comprimé à la première chambre d'air tampon. L'invention porte également sur un procédé pour remplir la première chambre d'air tampon.
