Novel compound called caloxins which are extracellular plasma membrane (PM) Ca2+-pump inhibitors are described. One caloxin is caloxin 2A1 and has the amino acid sequence VSNSNWPSFPSSGGG. Another caloxin is caloxin 3A1 and has the amino acid sequence DSHINNEPSRRRGGGK. The caloxins are useful in inhibiting PM Ca2+-pumps and can be used in the development of treatments of various diseases including hypertension, hypotension, degenerative brain disorders, mood disorders, diabetes, kidney failure and cancer.

L'invention concerne de nouveaux composés appelés caloxines (caloxin) qui sont des inhibiteurs de la pompe Ca?2+ ¿extracellulaire (PM). Une première caloxine est la caloxine 2A1 présentant la séquence d'acides aminés: <= SNSNWPSFPSSGGG >=. Une autre caloxine est la caloxine 3A1 présentant la séquence d'acides aminés: <= DSHINNEPSRRRGGGK >=. On utilise ces caloxines pour inhiber les pompes Ca?2+¿ PM ainsi que dans l'élaboration de traitements contre diverses maladies, notamment l'hypertension, l'hypotension, les troubles de dégénérescence cérébrale, les troubles de l'humeur, le diabète, l'agénésie rénale et le cancer.
