CAPACITY AND LIFE ENHANCING LITHIUM ELECTROLYTE FOR NON-AQUEOUS CELLS WITH CARBON BASED NEGATIVE ELECTRODE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to a novel method and electrolyte for prolonging the efficiency and cycle life of non-aqueous batteries. More particularly, this invention pertains to a method and liquid organic electrolyte com- prising one or more organic solvents and the lithium salt LiN(CF3SO2)2 for use in increasing the capacity and cycle life of non-aqueous cells with carbon based negative elec- trodes. A method is disclosed of achieving greater capac- ity and cycle life in a non-aqueous lithium ion cell with a carbon based negative electrode which comprises minimiz- ing loss of lithium from the carbon electrode by incorpor- ating in the electrolyte a suitable lithium salt.
