ABSTRACT A divider for a carton is formed from a one piece blank and includes a partion defining a handle. The handle is secured in a stored position to an anchor panel of the divider by severable connections in the form of straps as that the handle can be moved outwardly into a carrying position. The straps are connected to the anchor panel and handle at respective points lying on a line perpendicular to the line of severance between the anchor panel and handle. The straps have a length greater than the distance between the connection points so that upon application of a force to separate the handle from the anchor panel, a couple is set up in the strap to promote tearing of the strap and release of the handle.
