ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In an instrument for writing and/or painting and so on, an ink cartridge provided with a valve is inserted into a shaft sleeve of the instrument from its rear end to bring a valve stem of the valve into contact with an intermediate plate of the instrument which plate is provided with an ink passing hole adjacent to an ink absorber attached to a base end of a writing brush point, which valve stem is resiliently biased toward a valve closing position and is retracted to open the valve so as to permit a feeding of ink to the absorber when the cartridge is pushed into the shaft sleeve against a resilient biasing force acting on the valve stem by a knocking action of the cartridge.
