A catalyst comprises an electrically conductive ceramic substrate having at least one noble metal supported thereupon. The substrate may be a transition metal based ceramic such as a carbide, nitride, boride, or silicide of a transition metal, and the noble metal may comprise a mixture of noble metals. The substrate may comprise a high surface area ceramic. Also disclosed are fuel cells incorporating the catalysts.

La présente invention concerne un catalyseur comprenant un substrat en céramique électriquement conducteur servant de support à au moins un métal noble. Le substrat peut être constitué par une céramique à base de métal de transition de type carbure, nitrure, borure ou siliciure de métal de transition, le métal noble pouvant être constitué par un mélange de métaux nobles. Le substrat peut renfermer une céramique à surface spécifique élevée. L'invention concerne également des piles à combustible qui intègrent lesdits catalyseurs.
