Abstract of the Disclosure A cathode depolarizer for an electrolytic capacitor which is substantially non-film forming and non-gassing, offers minimal internal series resistance, stabilizers electrical characteristics of the capacitor and is substantially inert to corrosive chemical attack by the electrolyte. A particular improvement over prior art cathode depolarizers is in the use of a copper salt with an inorganic acid electrolyte to provide an electrically sound structure. The cathode depolarizer includes a copper salt adapted to be reduced to copper ions by current flow prior to the reduction of the inorganic acid. The preferred copper salt is Cu SO4 - SH2o.
