A swim fin is disclosed that comprises a boot portion (2) to receive the foot of a swimmer, a web portion (3), and a pair of side members (4). Each of the side members have an upper and lower arm and an upper and lower end. The lower ends of the side members are attached to opposite sides of the web portion while the upper ends of the side membrs attached to leg engaging means (7). A pivot means (8) connects the side members to the boot portion and permits the side members and the web portion to rotate about the boot portion such that when the leg engaging means is attached to the lower leg of a swimmer the web portion is pivoted to a position approximately parallel to the swimmer's lower leg.
Cette invention porte sur une nageoire comprenant une partie chaussante (2) destinée à recevoir le pied d'un nageur, une voilure (3) et une paire d'éléments latéraux (4). Chaque élément latéral comporte un bras supérieur et un bras inférieur et une extrémité supérieure et une extrémité inférieure. Les extrémités inférieures des éléments latéraux se fixent sur des côtés opposés de la voilure et les extrémités supérieures se fixent sur un moyen de retenue (7) sur la jambe inférieure. Un pivot (8) réunit les éléments de la voilure autour de la partie chaussante, si bien que lorsque le moyen de retenue sur la jambe inférieure est fixé à la jambe inférieure d'un nageur, la voilure pivote dans une position approximativement parallèle à ladite jambe inférieure.
