CERAMIC CAPACITORS, CIRCUIT BOARDS AND MATRICES THEREFOR Abstract of the Disclosure A process is described for forming unitary ceramic bodies suitable for use in making capacitors. A plurality of thin sheets of a finely divided ceramic composition are bonded with a thermally-fugitive bond, this ceramic com- position being sinterable to form a dense, dielectric layer providing on a plurality of areas on each of a plurality of such sheets a coating which consists of thermally-fugitive material. A stack is formed comprising a plurality of these coated sheets with at least certain of the coated areas on the coated sheets being partially superposed. The stack is then consolidated and fired at temperatures sufficiently high to remove the thermally-fugitive materials and to sinter the ceramic composition into a monolithic block. The block is then severed into smaller bodies each of which comprises a plurality of thin strata of dense dielectric material, substantial portions of the adjacent surfaces of a plurality of the strata being separated to provide substantially unobstructed spaces therebetween. These spaces open alternately at opposite ends of the body.
