A window lock for a sliding/hung window system is disclosed comprising a housing having a channel formed thereon, a cam situated within and in rotational engagement with the housing; a handle having an aperture formed therein whereby the handle is fixedly attached to the cam and is in rotational engagement with the housing, a lock button secured into said handle aperture such that a bottom flange of said lock button engages said channel of the housing. The window lock provides a lock that is believed will meet or exceed industry standards for forced entry resistant window lock systems.
