ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to novel tripeptide deerivatives of the basic formula H - A1 - A2 - A3 - NH - R wherein each A group is an amino acid and -NH-R is a group which, when split off under enzyme action, can be determined quantitatively, for example a nitro phenylamino group. These compounds find use as chromogenic substrates for the estimation of enzymes of the type serine proteases (EC 3.4.21).
