The invention relates to a coating material for glass surfaces, which is characterized in that it contains, as film- forming component, esters of monocarboxylic and dicarboxylic acids with a total of up to 40 carbon atoms, as well as to an aqueous emulsion, which contains these coating materials and consists of one or more of the film-forming components, nonionic emulsifiers, optionally thickeners, preservatives and water.
