The invention relates to a communication adapter 6 for use with an ambulant medical device 1. The device 1 carries out a data transmission, preferably an infrared data transmission 5, to the communication adapter 6 that carries out a data transmission 8 to a computer 12 by means of a data connection, preferably a wire-based connection 10. The communication adapter 6 processes the data to be read-out from the devices 1, for example in the form of HTML reports, in such a fashion that it can be displayed on a computer 12 without the use of specific software, for example with a customary Internet browser.
