Composite body, a gas discharge lamp having a sodium pressure from 300-600 torr in particular, having an envelope of densely sintered aluminium oxide or of other sodium vapour-resistant materials and a feed-through member of tantalum, niobium or other metals equivalent thereto, the bonding material consisting of a finely dis- persed polycrystalline product having a composition in mole % between the following limits: Al2O3 5-70 at least one oxide chosen from Sc2O3 and Ti2Ox, wherein 2 < x < 4 2-70 and at least one oxide chosen from: Y2O3 Gd2O3, Tb2O3, DY2O3, Ho2O3, Er2O3, Eu2O3, Pr2O3 Ce2O3, Sm2O3, Tm2O3, Yb2O3, Lu2O3, La2O3 and Nd2O3 7-80.
