A composite body consisting of a carrier and at least two decorative layers connected therewith, comprises a carrier consisting substantially of at least one natural and/or synthetic thermoplastic or thermoelastic polymer. A composite body of this type can e.g. be used for floor coverings, such as parquet or for inlaid works, such as tarsia. A method for producing a composite body of this type provides for pressing the decorative layers with the carrier at an increased pressure and increased temperature thereby producing the polymer.
