A method of injecting a plurality of bird eggs comprises: (a) orienting a plurality of avian eggs in a predetermined position; (b) forming an opening in the shell of each of the eggs; (c) extending an elongate delivery device through each of the openings and into the eggs, each of the delivery devices comprising a detector and an injection needle, with the injection needle having a lumen formed therein; (d) detecting with the detector information from the interior of each of the plurality of eggs; and (e) injecting a substance into each of the plurality of eggs through the lumen of said injection needle. The detected information can be used for a variety of purposes, including adjusting the depth of penetration of the injection needle to more precisely control the location of the injection, identifying the gender of the eggs for subsequent sorting of the eggs, distinguishing viable from non- viable eggs, etc. When used for controlling depth penetration, the method positions the needle tip for any purpose, including withdrawing biological material as well as injecting substances. Apparatus, particularly high-speed apparatus, for carrying out the method is also disclosed.
La présente invention concerne un procédé d'injection dans une pluralité d'oeufs d'oiseaux qui consiste: (a) à orienter une pluralité d'oeufs aviaires dans une position prédéterminée; (b) à former une ouverture dans la coquille de chaque oeuf; (c) à passer un dispositif d'administration, de forme allongée, à travers chacune des ouvertures et à pénétrer à l'intérieur des oeufs, chaque dispositif comprenant un détecteur et une aiguille d'injection, cette aiguille étant dotée d'un lumen; (d) à détecter, à l'aide du détecteur, une information sur l'intérieur de chaque oeuf; et (e) à injecter une substance dans chaque oeuf par le lumen de ladite aiguille d'injection. L'information détectée peut servir à plusieurs usages, dont l'ajustement de la profondeur de pénétration de l'aiguille d'injection dans le but de contrôler plus précisément l'emplacement de l'injection, d'identifier le genre des oeufs afin d'en permettre un tri subséquent, de distinguer les oeufs viables de ceux qui ne le sont pas, etc. Lorsqu'il est utilisé afin de juger de la pénétration en profondeur, le procédé permet de positionner l'embout de l'aiguille pour toute utilisation, dont le retrait de matière biologique, tout comme pour l'injection de substances. L'invention concerne aussi un dispositif, en particulier un dispositif à grande vitesse, destiné à mettre en oeuvre le procédé.
