ABSTRACT Disclosed herein is a one bolt connecting rod for an internal combustion engine or a compressor. The unbolted junction of the connecting rod shank and cap is of the hook- on-lug type. The bolted junction is of the male/female or type, and the bolt runs longitudinally through the junction. The male/female junction is slightly offset so that tightening the bolt moves the cap both toward the shank and transverse to it so as to tighten the hook-on-lug junction and round out the aperture for the crankshaft. The cap may be made wider than the shank to enable the cap to serve as an integral spacer. Also disclosed are an extrusion process and a fine blanking process for making connecting rod parts.
