A constrained prosthetic knee having a modular hinge post and a rotating bearing. A cannulated hinge post is rotatably connected to the femoral component of the knee prosthesis so that a hinge post extension may be anteriorly positioned through the hinge post and into the tibial component of the knee prosthesis, after positioning of the femoral component in the femur and the tibial component in the tibia. The hinge post is preassembled to the femoral component so that such assembly is not required during the implantation procedure. A meniscal component forming the rotating bearing of the knee prosthesis is packaged together with the hinge post extension so that the appropriate hinge post extension is readily available.

L'invention concerne une prothèse de genou de taille restreinte possédant un tourillon intégré ainsi qu'une articulation pivotante. Le tourillon avec canule est fixé au composant fémoral de la prothèse de manière à lui permettre de décrire un mouvement rotatif et de façon à ce qu'on puisse placer un prolongement à ce tourillon sur la portion antérieure du tourillon, vers le composant tibial de la prothèse, après la mise en place du composant fémoral dans le fémur et du composant tibial dans le tibia. Le tourillon est préalablement fixé au composant fémoral de sorte qu'il ne soit pas nécessaire de procéder à cet assemblage lors de la mise en place de la prothèse. Un composant méniscal constituant l'articulation pivotante de la prothèse de genou est assemblé avec le prolongement du tourillon de manière à ce que le prolongement de tourillon nécessaire soit utilisable immédiatement.
