A B S T R A C T The invention relates to copolymers of ?-.beta.-unsaturated dicarboxylic acid esters and ?-olefins. The copolymers are derived from ?-olefins having 8 to 24 carbon atoms and ?-.beta.-unsaturated dicarboxylic acid esters, the alcoholic components of which are ethoxylated alcohols with a degree of ethoxylation of 1 to 45. The copolymers preferably are used as lubricants for processing thermostplastic synthetic materials.
