The present invention is directed generally to correcting geometric distortion in a digitally captured image. The method involves receiving an uncorrected digital image of a phantom having a plurality of fiduciary marks; locating an uncorrected digital position for each of the fiduciary marks; mapping the uncorrected digital position to a corrected digital position for each fiduciary mark; and interpolating or extrapolating the fiduciary mark map to all pixels in the uncorrected digital image, thereby creating a correction map for uncorrected digital images.

La présente invention se rapporte généralement à la correction de distorsion géométrique d'une image saisie numériquement. La méthode consiste à recevoir une image numérique non corrigée d'un spectre présentant une pluralité de marques de référence; à localiser une position numérique non corrigée pour chacune des marques de référence; à mapper la position numérique non corrigée à une position numérique corrigée pour chaque marque de référence; et à interpoler ou extrapoler la carte de la marque de référence à tous les pixels dans l'image numérique non corrigée, ce qui permet de créer une carte de correction pour des images numériques non corrigées.
