The floor (22) forming the anode of the d.c. arc furnace proposed comprises a copper-plated steel sheet (221,222) with a brick lining (42, 43, 44) made of electrically conductive refractory material. This gives the greatest possible contact surface area for the current passage, with a correspondingly low specific current load on the refractory brick lining (42, 43, 44), at the same time ensuring the required high service life both of the floor (22) itself and also of the brick lining (43, 44).
