A method for decolourizing sulphuric acid containing peroxide oxidizable impurities with peroxide. The amount of peroxide consumed can be accurately predetermined by correlation to the amount of added Ce(IV) ion consumed by the acid. A convenient spectrophotometric method for determining the consumption of Ce(IV) ion by the acid is provided.

Méthode pour décolorer, à l'aide de peroxyde, de l'acide sulfurique renfermant des impuretés oxydables par le peroxyde. La quantité de peroxyde peut être déterminée préalablement avec précision en établissant une corrélation avec la quantité d'ion Ce(IV) ajoutée, consommée par l'acide. On donne une méthode spectrophotométrique appropriée permettant de déterminer la consommation d'ion Ce(IV) par l'acide.
