A Christmas tree lighting system for utilization with natural or artificial Christmas trees includes an outer elongated tubular covering having a zippered opening extending the length thereof. This outer cover may be either attached to the trunk of the tree, or suspended from an upper branch to extend along the trunk of the tree. The outer covering has attached to its interior one or more elongated flexible tubular casings, with a longitudinal zippered opening extending from the upper end thereof downwardly a predetermined distance toward the lower end thereof. The tubular casings in turn enclose a plurality of flexible optical fibers extending from the bottom thereof substantially toward the top of the casing. When the zippered casing is opened, the optical fibers may be bent outwardly therefrom and spread apart to lie along branches of a tree in which the lighting system is used. A source of light is applied to the bottom end of the optical fibers at the base of the tree. The lighting system may be removed from the tree by pulling the entire assembly downwardly out of the tree and then first closing the tubular casings around the flexible optical fibers, and then closing the outer covering. The entire assembly then may be rolled up and stored until its next use is desired.
L'invention concerne un système d'éclairage d'arbre de Noël s'utilisant avec des arbres de Noël naturels ou artificiels, qui comprend une enveloppe extérieure tubulaire allongée comportant une ouverture pourvue, sur sa longueur, d'une fermeture à glissière. L'enveloppe extérieure peut être soit fixée au tronc de l'arbre, soit suspendue à une branche supérieure de manière à se déployer le long de l'arbre. L'enveloppe extérieure comporte une ou plusieurs gaines tubulaires souples fixées à l'intérieur de celle-ci, une ouverture longitudinale pourvue d'une fermeture à glissière s'étendant de leur extrémité supérieure vers le bas, sur une distance prédéterminée en direction de l'extrémité inférieure de la gaine. Les gaines tubulaires contiennent une pluralité de fibres optiques souples s'étendant du bas de la gaine sensiblement vers le haut de celle-ci. Lorsqu'on ouvre la gaine pourvue d'une fermeture à glissière, les fibres optiques peuvent être courbées vers l'extérieur et déployées de manière à reposer sur les branches de l'arbre équipé du système d'éclairage. Une source lumineuse est appliquée à l'extrémité inférieure des fibres optiques, à la base de l'arbre. Pour enlever le système d'éclairage de l'arbre, on tire l'ensemble entier vers le bas, loin de l'arbre, puis on ferme d'abord les gaines tubulaires autour des fibres optiques souples et on referme ensuite l'enveloppe extérieure. L'ensemble entier peut ensuite être enroulé et rangé jusqu'à la prochaine utilisation.
