A preparation delivery device comprising a) a con- tainer for the preparation having or being prepared for the arrangement of an opening, b) a mechanism operable to de- liver at least part of the preparation in the container through the opening, c) attachment means for connection of the con- tainer to the mechanism and d) a sensor system arranged to detect at least one predetermined property of the container or its content. The device comprises a radiation transmitter arranged to in-adiate the container position or a part thereof, a radiation receiver arranged to receive at least an area part of the radiation from the transmitter after the radiation has been affected by the container position and the receiver be- ing designed to give an output response representative for the total radiation received from said area part. A method for operating the device comprises the step of transmitting radia- tion towards the container position or a part thereof to allow the radiation to be affected by the container position, receiv- ing at least a part of the affected radiation from at least an area part of the container position in a non-imaging way and comparing the characteristics of the received radiation with a predetermined characteristic representative for the predeter- mined property to establish whether or not the predetermined property of the container is present.
Dispositif d'administration d'une préparation qui comporte (a) un récipient pour ladite préparation dans lequel peut être percée une ouverture, (b) un mécanisme qui fonctionne pour administrer au moins une partie de la préparation par l'ouverture, (c) un moyen de fixation pour rattacher le récipient au mécanisme et (d) un système de détection permettant de déterminer au moins une propriété prédéterminée du récipient ou de son contenu. Ledit dispositif comporte un émetteur de rayonnement conçu pour la position du récipient ou une partie dudit récipient, un récepteur de rayonnement conçu pour recevoir au moins une partie du rayonnement émis par l'émetteur, une fois le rayonnement modifié par la position du récipient, le récepteur étant conçu pour donner une sortie représentative du rayonnement total reçu de ladite partie. Un procédé de fonctionnement dudit dispositif consiste à émettre un rayonnement vers la position du récipient ou une partie dudit récipient pour permettre au rayonnement d'être affecté par la position du récipient, à recevoir au moins une partie du rayonnement affecté provenant d'au moins une partie de la position du récipient de manière non imagée et à comparer les caractéristiques du rayonnement reçu avec des caractéristiques prédéterminées représentatives d'une propriété prédéterminée pour établir la présence ou l'absence de la propriété prédéterminée du récipient.
