ABSTRACT 1. Device and process for the deformation of the heat- softened end of a glass tube. 2.1 In the formation of hollow articles such as, for example, vials from tubes, for example, glass tubes, either great processing pauses occur or the formation parts have to be moved with high speed to the respective next tube. With the new vial machine the formation is to take place with only little mechanical expenditure and a high production rate is to be possible. 2.2 To keep the processing pause short a forming roller is provided, which, with rolling of a rotating glass tube passing by on the forming roller, is to be shifted back and forth relative to the glass tube. Shifting of the forming roller can take place so that the forming roller, toward the end of the rolling, is in the starting position of forming the next glass tube. 2.3 Continuous production of vials, ampules, etc.
