The invention relates to a device for longitudinal cutting of a pipe (1) comprising: - a frame (4) consisting of two grippers (24, 26) and a rail (20) disposed between the grippers (24, 26), each gripper comprising two jaws (28a, 28b, 30a, 30b) each of which comprises a gripping area (40, 42), a brace clamping means (36, 38) which are disposed between the jaws on the side opposite the area of griping relative to the brace, and exert force in order to activate the jaws, - mobile means (8) comprising a carriage (22) which is guided in translation relative to the rail (20) and cutting means (14) attached to the carriage (22), and - means (10) for controlling the displacement of the carriage (22) relative to the frame (4).
