ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A hand-held device for transferring a film from a racking tape to a substrate, comprises a housing in which a supply reel and a take-up reel for the backing tape are each accommodated on an individual rotation pin arranged for rota- tion on the housing. A rewind lock is associated with at least one reel. The two rotation pins are coupled with one another via a gear tooth system comprising a slipping clutch active in the direction of rotation. The backing tape, unwindable from the supply reel, is guided over an application element projecting from the housing and adapted to press the backing tape with its film side onto the substrate. The tape is guided from the application element, back into the housing, and onto the take-up reel. The gear tooth system is integrated into the rotation pins, and the slipping clutch is part of the gear tooth system.
