Several embodiments of cutting tips (20, 120, 220, 300, 620, 720, 820)for tools for creating voids in interior body regions are provided. The cutting tips provide for rotational and translational cutting. An actuator mechanism (22, 150, 180A) for deploying a cutting tip converts the rotational movement of a wheel into translational movement of a plunger rod (156). The actuator mechanism provides positive cutting action as the cutting tip is moved from a first, non-deployed position to a second, deployed position and from the second, deployed position to the first, non-deployed position. Methods of creating a void in bone provide one or more mechanical cutting tools that may be used in combination with one or more expandable void-creating structures to form a void of a desired size and configuration.
Dans certains modes de réalisation, la présente invention a trait à des têtes de coupe pour la création de cavités dans des zones corporelles internes. Les têtes de coupe assurent une découpe en rotation et en translation. Un mécanisme d'actionnement destiné au déploiement d'une tête de coupe convertit le mouvement de rotation d'une roue en un mouvement de translation d'une tige de piston. Le mécanisme d'actionnement effectue une action de découpe positif au fur et à mesure du déplacement de la tête de coupe depuis une première position non déployée vers une deuxième position déployée et depuis la deuxième position déployée vers la première position non déployée. L'invention a également trait à des procédés de création d'une cavité dans un os mettant en oeuvre un ou plusieurs outils mécanique de coupe aptes à être utilisés en combinaison avec une ou des structures de création de cavités expansibles pour la formation d'une cavité de taille et de configuration souhaitées.
