A process for the selective production of ethyl acetate by vapor phase reaction of acetic acid over a hydrogenating catalyst composition to form ethyl acetate is disclosed and claimed. In an embodiment of this invention reaction of acetic acid and hydrogen over platinum and copper supported on silica selectively produces ethyl acetate in a vapor phase at a temperature of about 250°C.
Linvention concerne une méthode de production sélective d'acétate d'éthyle par réaction en phase vapeur d'acide acétique sur une composition catalysante d'hydrogénation, pour former l'acétate d'éthyle. Dans un mode de réalisation, la réaction de l'acide acétique et de l'hydrogène sur du platine et du cuivre disposés sur un support de silice produit sélectivement de l'acétate d'éthyle en phase vapeur, à une température d'environ 250°C.
