Pathogenic allele variants that predispose to a disease can be identified by stratifying affected sib pairs by allele-sharing status at two or more candidate loci. This locus stratification method has been used to identify an allelic variant at the ATM locus which is implicated in breast cancer.
On peut identifier des variants d'allèles pathogènes qui prédisposent à une maladie en disposant par couches des paires sib affectées suivant l'état de partage d'allèle au niveau d'au moins deux locus candidats. On a utilisé ce procédé de stratification de locus pour identifier un variant allélique au niveau du locus ATM qui est impliqué dans le carcinome mammaire.
