This invention is a safety device for the removable, non-permanent attachment to a door, to prevent the door from closing completely, an action which could potentially injure a young child's eager little fingers. This invention is hereafter referred to as the Door ELF. A resilient body made of malleable material contained within an enclosure, having a thickness greater than an adult -sized finger, even when compressed between the door and the doorframe. The resilient body is strung between the door handles on opposite faces of the door, providing a barrier to prevent the door from closing completely, even under the force exerted by an adult. The attached body is easily removed to allow for complete door closure by simply unhooking one of door handle attachments and allowing the body to remain suspended from the other door handle. This ensures that the device is always immediately accessible for reattachment when required.
