The present invention relates to mutations in Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) and methods of detecting such mutations as well as prognostic methods method for identifying a tumors that are susceptible to anticancer therapy such as chemotherapy and/or kinase inhibitor treatment. The methods involve determining the presence of a mutated (EGFR) gene or mutated (EGFR) protein in a tumor sample whereby the presence of a mutated (EGFR) gene or protein indicates the tumor is susceptible to treatment.

L'invention concerne des mutations du récepteur du facteur de croissance épidermique (EGFR) et des méthodes servant à détecter ces mutations, ainsi que des méthodes pronostiques servant à identifier des tumeurs susceptibles d'être traitées par une thérapie anticancer, telle qu'une chimiothérapie et/ou un traitement d'inhibition de kinase. Ces méthodes consistent à déterminer la présence d'un gène de EGFR ayant subi une mutation ou d'une protéine de EGFR ayant subi une mutation dans un spécimen de tumeur, la présence de ce gène ou de cette protéine permettant d'indiquer que la tumeur est susceptible d'être traitée par une thérapie anticancer.
