An electrical signalling system comprises a modulator arranged to accept information from a plurality of sources and encode that information as a pulse width modulated signal, wherein information from the plurality of sources is encoded as subsequent pulse widths. The information from at least one sensor is encoded such that an increasing value corresponds to an increasing pulse width and the information from at least one other sensor is encoded such that an increasing value corresponds to a decreasing pulse width.
