A double layer capacitor (Figure 1) includes first (12) and second (14) electrode structures separated by a porous each include a current collector foil (22), a primary coating formed on the current collector foil, and a secondary coating formed on the primary coating. The primary coatings include conducting carbon powder (42), and the secondary coatings include activated carbon powder (44). A method of making the electrode structures includes the steps of : preparing a first slurry that includes conducting carbon powder and a binder; applying the first slurry to form a primary coating; preparing a second slurry that includes activated carbon powder, a solvent and a binder; and applying the second slurry to the primary coating.

L'invention concerne un condensateur (Figure 1) à double couche comprenant une première (12) et une seconde (14) structure d'électrodes séparées par un milieu poreux, chaque structure étant constituée d'une feuille (22) collecteur de courant, d'un revêtement primaire formé sur la feuille collecteur de courant et d'un revêtement secondaire formé sur le revêtement primaire. Ledit revêtement primaire renferme de la poudre (42) de carbone conductrice, tandis que le revêtement secondaire renferme de la poudre (44) de carbone activée. L'invention concerne également un procédé de fabrication desdites structures d'électrodes, qui consiste : à préparer une première suspension contenant de la poudre de carbone conductrice et un liant ; à appliquer cette première suspension de manière à former un revêtement primaire ; à préparer une seconde suspension contenant de la poudre de carbone activée, un solvant et un liant, et à appliquer la seconde suspension sur le revêtement primaire.
