An electrode is made by depositing a mixture of particulate carbon and very finethermoplastic binder on the surface of a fluid permeable dielectric web. The coated web is then passed between a pair of rollers that apply heat to at least the Vicat softening point of the binder and simultaneously apply pressure to fuse the carbon and binder to the web. Two of such electrodes are employed to manufacture a flow-through capacitor suitable for use in water treatment.

La présente invention a pour objet une électrode fabriquée par déposition d'un mélange de carbone particulaire et d'un liant thermoplastique très fin à la surface d'une bande diélectrique perméable aux fluides. La bande ainsi revêtue est ensuite acheminée entre une paire de rouleaux où elle est soumise à une température au moins égale à la température de ramollissement Vicat du liant, ainsi qu'à une pression suffisante pour produire le fusionnement du carbone et du liant à la bande. Deux électrodes de ce genre peuvent être utilisées pour fabriquer un condensateur à circulation continue convenant aux applications de traitement des eaux.
