An electronic communication system including: (a) a fastener (2) operable to close or open to secure an item such as a seat (20) to a vehicle; (b) electronic communication means (4) linking the fastener (2) to at least one separate device, such as a second fastener (2) or a handheld remote user- controlled device, to communicate information to the separate device; and (c) electronic circuitry to detect the status of the fastener and to generate the information to be communicated by the electronic communication means to the separate device, wherein the information, which may be an electrical signal such as an electrical pulse, relates to the open or closed status of the fastener.

Cette invention concerne un système de communication électronique comprenant: (a) une attache (2) pouvant se fermer ou s'ouvrir pour fixer un article tel qu'un siège (20) à un véhicule; (b) une unité de communication électronique (4) reliant l'attache (2) à au moins un dispositif séparé tel qu'une deuxième attache (2) ou un dispositif commandé par l'utilisateur éloigné portatif afin de communiquer des informations au dispositif séparé; et (c) un circuit électronique servant à détecter le statut de l'attache et à générer les informations destinées à être communiquées par l'unité de communication électronique au dispositif séparé, lesquelles informations, qui peuvent être un signal électrique tel qu'une impulsion électrique, portent sur le statut ouvert ou fermé de l'attache.
