This invention is an improved electronic infusion device (EID) which employs a novel system for preventing dangerous, wide open, gravity flow ("free flow") when an intravenous (IV) administration set is removed from the EID. This novel free flow prevention system is the only one able to work with standard gravity IV sets, without requiring any special IV set components to accomplish its task. It's also the only system that interacts with the IV sets' roller clamp, forcing the user to close the roller clamp before being able to unlock the EID's peristaltic pump mechanism to remove the IV set.
Cette invention est un dispositif de perfusion électronique amélioré utilisant un nouveau système pour empêcher l'écoulement libre quand la source de perfusion est déconnectée du dispositif de perfusion électronique en question. Ce nouveau système de blocage d'écoulement libre est le seul utilisable avec les sources à écoulement libre du type standard IV sans nécessiter de dispositifs spéciaux de type IV. C'est également le seul système qui s'adapte aux pinces à roulette des sources de type IV et qui oblige l'utilisateur à fermer cette pince avant de pouvoir déverrouiller le mécanisme de pompage péristaltique du dispositif de perfusion électronique de la source de type IV.
