A developing device usable with an electrophotographic image forming apparatus, and movable in a direction substantially perpendicular to an axial direction of a driving shaft comprising a coupling member for transmitting a rotating force to the developing roller, capable of taking a rotational force transmitting angular position for transmitting the rotational force, a pre-engagement angular position which is taken before the coupling member is engaged with the rotating force applying portion and in which the coupling member is inclined away from the rotational force transmitting angular position, and a disengaging angular position which is taken for the coupling member to disengage from the driving shaft and in which the coupling member i inclined away from the rotational force transmitting angular position in a direction opposite to the pre-engagement angular position; wherein in response to a movement of the developing device, the coupling member moves from the pre-engagement angular position to the rotational force transmitting angular position to be opposed to the driving shaft, and wherein when the movable member makes a further movement in the same direction, the coupling member is disengaged from the driving shaft by moving from the rotational force transmitting angular position to the disengaging angular position.
L'invention concerne un dispositif de développement pouvant être utilisé avec un appareil de formation d'image électrophotographique, et pouvant être déplacé dans une direction sensiblement perpendiculaire à une direction axiale d'un arbre d'entraînement comprenant un élément d'accouplement pour transmettre une force de rotation au rouleau de développement, capable de prendre une position angulaire de transmission de force de rotation pour transmettre la force de rotation, une position angulaire de pré-engagement qui est prise avant que l'élément d'accouplement ne s'engage avec la partie d'application de force de rotation et dans laquelle l'élément d'accouplement est incliné loin de la position angulaire de transmission de force de rotation, et une position angulaire de désengagement qui est prise pour que l'élément d'accouplement se désengage de l'arbre d'entraînement et dans laquelle l'élément d'accouplement est incliné loin de la position angulaire de transmission de force de rotation dans une direction opposée à la position angulaire de pré-engagement. Selon l'invention, en réponse à un déplacement du dispositif de développement, l'élément d'accouplement se déplace de la position angulaire de pré-engagement à la position angulaire de transmission de force de rotation pour être opposé à l'arbre d'entraînement, et, lorsque l'élément mobile effectue un déplacement plus en avant dans la même direction, l'élément d'accouplement est désengagé de l'arbre d'entraînement par déplacement de la position angulaire de transmission de force de rotation à la position angulaire de désengagement.
