An energy expenditure garment (10) includes a body portion and limb portions made of a base fabric (12) and incorporating at least one elastic resistance band (14, 18) which is free of any limb extremity anchor structure. The garment includes structure (16, 18, 22) for retarding slippage of the garment during an exercise while still permitting some degree of slippage.
