The present invention is provided with an NOx catalyst 17 provided in the exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine capable of lean burn and adapted to release and reduce absorbed NOx by a reducing agent, a reducing agent supplying means 19 provided in the exhaust passage on the upstream side of the NOx catalyst 17, a load detecting means for detecting the load of an internal combustion engine 1, and a reducing agent addition control means for controlling the reducing agent addition period and the reducing agent addition interval on the basis of the load of the internal combustion engine 1. The addition period and the addition interval for the reducing agent are controlled taking into account, for example, the degree to which reducing agent adheres to the wall surface in the exhaust passage depending on the velocity, temperature, etc., of the exhaust of the internal combustion engine 1, whereby a sufficient amount of reducing agent is supplied to the NOx catalyst side independently of the operating condition. Thus, even if the operating condition of the internal combustion engine is changed, it is always possible to supply an appropriate amount of reducing agent to the NOx catalyst.
L'invention concerne un dispositif de régulation des émissions de gaz d'échappement sur un moteur à combustion interne, comprenant les éléments suivants: un catalyseur (17) de NOx logé dans le passage des gaz d'échappement d'un moteur à combustion interne à mélange pauvre et rejetant les NOx absorbé par celui-ci avec un agent réducteur; des moyens (19) d'alimentation en agent réducteur installés dans le passage des gaz d'échappement, sur le côté amont du catalyseur (17) de NOx; un moyen de détection de charge pour capter la charge du moteur (1) à combustion interne; un moyen de commande d'addition d'agent réducteur pour gérer les temps et les intervalles d'addition d'agent réducteur, sur la base de la charge du moteur (1) à combustion interne. Ces temps et ces intervalles d'addition d'agent réducteur sont gérés en fonction de l'adhérence de l'agent réducteur sur les parois du passage des gaz d'échappement, cette adhérence variant selon la vitesse et la température du flux des gaz d'échappement dudit moteur (1), et ce, afin de fournir une quantité suffisante d'agent réducteur au catalyseur de NOx, quelles que soient les conditions de fonctionnement du moteur. Ainsi, le catalyseur de NOx est toujours alimenté en agent réducteur en quantité correcte, même si les conditions de fonctionnement du moteur varient.
