2086668 9200697 PCTABS00010 Device and method for treating tissue inside a patient's body, including an endoscopically introducible catheter shaft (10). The endoscope (150) has a channel passing through it which terminates at an opening (152) in the distal end thereof and enables the catheter shaft (10) to pass beyond the distal end. A chamber is mounted on the catheter shaft and has a flexible wall. The chamber is fillable with fluid (36) after placement in the patient's body. When it is filled it has a diameter greater than the diameter of the transverse cross-section of the endoscope channel. The endoscope (150) is inserted to view the inside of the patient's body, to determine the location of tissue to be treated. The catheter is inserted into the endoscope channel. The chamber is filled with fluid and is positioned at the location of tissue to be treated.
